A national campaign for vaccination against Corona virus was launched in Jordan, today, Wednesday, after the arrival of the first quantities of the "Sinopharma" (Chinese-Emirati) vaccine and the "Pfizer-Biontech" vaccine to the Kingdom.
The vaccination program targets the most affected groups, namely the elderly who suffer from chronic diseases, in addition to the medical and health cadres most vulnerable to infection with the virus.
The "Ruya News" channel quoted the Jordanian Minister of Health, Dr. Nazir Obeidat, as saying that the Jordanian government has contracted with the international "Kovacs", in addition to the Pfizer company, to supply quantities of the vaccine, stressing that work is underway to secure additional quantities of "Sinopharm" vaccines during the coming period.
The minister added that the national vaccination campaign was launched at eight o'clock in the morning of Wednesday, and the turnout for the centers was good, pointing out that the campaign is continuing, calling on citizens to take the initiative to register to take the vaccine against the Corona virus.
Obeidat expected that about 5,000 people would receive the vaccine daily.
Obeidat hoped that there would be an increase in the numbers and that it would reach the largest possible number of people wanting to receive the vaccine.
And about taking the Emirati Chinese vaccine, Obeidat said that he received the vaccine when it was in its experimental stages, stressing that there were no side effects.
He indicated that the antibody test had a positive result, which means that the vaccine was effective and safe.
In turn, the Director of Corona Crisis Cell Operations, Brigadier General Mazen Al-Faraya, said that the national vaccination program targets about 68,000 people within the batch, and that the number of people registered on the platform for the Corona vaccine reached 201,144 people, stressing that the platform is witnessing an increase in the number of people registered to receive the vaccine.
Al-Faraya announced that 10,000 text messages were sent to individuals who registered on the vaccination platform, with the aim of informing them of the dates for receiving the vaccine on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Kingdom had received quantities of the vaccines Sinopharma and Pfizer / Biontech.
The Jordan Food and Drug Administration had granted the two vaccines an emergency use permission that would allow them to begin use in the Kingdom.
